A story worthy of a nomination for Article of the Year! Absolutely astounding facts and an absolute pleasure to read.
Has anyone printed out every story to date on this 111 week project yet? Would most likely account for a book larger and more complete than Walter Breens encyclopedia of all US Coins!
Bravo to you Sir!

What else can I add that the previous posters haven't already said? A great COW highlight of the 1873-CC Seated Lib. dollar written with the Belay Off high standard level of quality. Great work, my friend. Thanks for all you do and looking forward to the next one.

Belay, Rusty, and other fellow specialists: Thanks for the great research, information, and observations on this this great "last of the Seated Liberty dollar series.
I have been privileged to be the caretaker of one of the mint state 1873-CC dollars. In my own research I know of three MS-61 coins, mine being one of those. However, at least two of these coins have been in different holders over the years. For instance, the coin I am caring for has been in an NGC AU-58, a PCGS MS-60, a NGC MS-61, and is now in a PCGS MS-61 holder.
Disregarding the Pop reports, I know of five "mint state" 73-CC Seated Liberty dollars. One, the Norweb coin, back in the 1980's was cataloged at auction as being MS-60, I believe. The colorful MS-65 coin resides in the Legend Collection. Could this coin possibly be one of the coins found in that cornerstone?
Weimar White encourages me to write about this coin. I appreciate his articles and all the other members of the club who faithfully contribute stories in Curry's Chronicle. Great job!!

Bob,
It's good to see you visiting the C4OA discussion board forum.
Congratulations on posting your very first message—Numero Uno! I hope you will join in on the discussions more often.
The population statistics for 1873-CC Seated dollars are slightly skewed. The third-party grading services sometimes have a difficult time keeping track of which coins have been graded, which ones have been upgraded, and which ones have been crossed over.
From your description, I think you own the Bareford-Sonnheim 1873-CC Seated dollar. When it sold in the September 1998 Bowers & Merena sale it was graded PCGS MS-60. Then, NGC upgraded it to MS-61, and now it is back in a PCGS holder, as an MS-61. As far as I know, PCGS never removed the MS-60 listing from its pop. report.
I know of two other MS-61 1873-CC Seated dollars. One is the Eliasberg specimen, and the other is a non-pedigreed piece.
The Legend 1873-CC Seated dollar, graded MS-65 by PCGS, is by far the finest known example of this date. NGC originally graded this coin MS-65, and this listing remains on NGC's census report. I also believe NGC might have graded this coin MS-64 at one time, and this listing, too, still remains on NGC's census report. I have never seen or heard of the MS-64 specimen, so I can't confirm if my theory is true. But, if I am correct, there are currently three MS-61 pieces and one MS-65 piece.
I once sold the finest AU-58 1873-CC Seated dollar I have ever seen, which might upgrade to Mint State some day.
From information I have received, the Legend coin is one of the three "cornerstone" 1873-CC Seated dollars discovered in 1973.
Please come back to the discussion board and post a message from time to time (And maybe even consider submitting an article about your 1873-CC Seated dollar—or any of your "CC" coins—to Curry's Chronicle).
