Drummer, that is a mighty fine half eagle there. Isn't the 1881-CC half eagle a tough coin to find? Yours has a lot of meat on the bone, and is that a reddish gold color I see? it is a beauty.

There indeed is a bit of reddish undertones in this coin (1881-CC $5)
...more so on the obverse. This date is as rare as some of the vaunted 1870's "CC" half eagle issues. Very nice examples can be located for a premium.
I purchased this particular coin from Rusty and it was the final piece..."the cap"....to my complete 19 coin "CC" half eagle set.
