I have had five of my original purchased "CC" half eagles resubmitted to NGC and/or PCGS....out of the five, three upgraded (one point grade each) and the other stayed the same. That's a pretty nice outcome and I consider myself lucky.
Regarding my 1875-CC $5 as shown(PCGS VF-35 old green holder), I believe the grade is solid at VF-35. I am not a professional grader of course but I actually kind of like this particular coin in the old green PCGS.
Grading has turned so conservative as of late that I wouldn't want to take a chance on this coin....so I believe it'll stay where it is, at least for a while.
