1878-CC seated quarter Semi-cancelled die variety

Here's a picture of an 1878-CC seated quarter dollar "semi-cancelled die' variety NGC MS-65

That sure is one cool variety. I still have yet to see one in person.

I wish my picture were a little better...you know how tough it is to take great coin pics...especially toned coins like this beauty.
It's one of my fave coins in my collection.

The "semi-cancelled" die variety is not all that rare. From what I understand, there are almost as many "semi-cancelled" varieties as non-"semi-cancelled"

The picture is great and i am certain that it doesn't do it justice. MS65 is such a lofty grade, on a "CC" it just doesn't get any sweeter.I just like the look of your coin!

Perhaps one of these times we'll be at a C4OA regional together and you can see the coin live and in person....as you know, coin viewing is so much better that way.

I recall Dr. Michael Fey discussed that variety in one of his Curry's Chronicle articles. It is on my list for sure.
