:woohoo: I attended the meeting of the 4CoA that was held at the coin show in Carson City on August 21, 2009 and I haveta say it was all plus more than I could have hoped for. It was indeed a fortunate opportunity to meet, talk to, listen to other clib members that share the passion of Carson City coin collecting in the land where it all started.
The privilege of seeing and hearing the history behind the first 1870 Seated Liberty dollar minted at the C.C. mint, the ingraved planchets, the C.C. gold coins, the rainbow toned C.C. Morgans, the C.C. half dollars, the examples of restrikes from cancelled C.C. dies and all the others that other members brought to share with all that attended was inspirational to say the the least. My only regret is that I didn't have my issue of "The Mint on Carson Street" with me to ask Rusty if he would possibly sign it, perhaps he would at another opportunity.
I truly feel that this is a great and worthy orginazation that needs to continue and all members should go the extra mile and do whatever they can, no matter how small it may seem, to keep this happening. I know I will. I can't attend all the meetings at the A.N.A. shows, but I will be at every one held at Carson City. Hopefully it will be an annual (at least) event and I will say now that I will be willing help in any way I can to see that happen.
Soldier on, fellow members, be true to your hobby and happy hunting.

Welcome Randy. Thanks for the update. If I attended I probably would have forgotten my book too! But the rest of it, you won't get any arguments from anyone here! Seeing all those items must have been quite interesting. I'm sorry I missed it. Thanks for sharing!

Hi all,
I was able to attend the meeting last weekend, and it was great. I live in the SF bay area, so it was a bit of a drive, but I'm so glad I made it. I just recently joined the club, so I wasn't sure what to expect, so I was pleasantly surprised to meet all of the people, and get a chance to hear about so many different aspects of collecting CC coins and materials.
The biggest surprise was a chance to see the first 1870CC dollar minted that was encased in a bracelet as somebody noted earlier. There were some great examples of toned morgans, an 1870 dollar with a rotated die, several examples of sample strikes made with canceled dies, tokens, and variations of reverse dies on dimes. I brought a few slabs that were not very common, and picked up the nickname of crazy slab guy. Everybody had something different to talk about, which made us all realize there are so many different aspects to CC coin collecting.
Dinner was great as well. Got a chance to meet and talk with even more people. Heard lots of stories about coins, and even cars. And, I got a chance to meet Belay Off in person, and found out what Belay Off really means (look it up ). And, I even found out that I was sitting next to a person that I was competing against buying a crazy CC slab on eBay! (thanks for letting me have it, Roger!)
All in all, it was a great meeting. We all walked away learning something new. I also realize we need to make sure we take some more pictures of the cool things that were shown, and set up a place on the web site to post them, along with the stories. Every topic discussed could easily lead to another more detailed article for an upcoming Curry's Chronicle.
Thanks!
Mike Wagner

Thanks so much Randy and Mike!
We absolutely love when members post their thoughts about the events we host. These types of reviews are perfect, and really help publicize this club. In fact, other members (such as Michael "the drummer" Parrott and "Belay Off") are submitting their reviews to the editors of big publications like Coin World, Numismatic News, and The Numismatist.
Basically, the more people that comment on how wonderful this organization is, the more publicity we get, the more members will join, and the more we're able to fund more exciting adventures for the club!
Thanks again for the reviews. For everyone that didn't get a chance to participate in the regional show-and-tell meeting, please try to come next time!

Hello Mike and Randy. I like your reviews of our C4OA regional meeting. I submitted my review to the "letters to the editor" section of Coin World, Numismatic News and The Numismatist. You should consider submitting yours too.
I look forward to seeing you at upcoming C4OA events.

It would've been nice to have you there Garry N. We could talk about "CC" coins and drums too! This truly was an amazing event. Hope you can make the next one.
