Too many para-diddles cause drummers to be slightly off-center:lol:

Michael (Drummer)

Better late than never is all I can say, I have finally been able to set some time to finally start discovering all of the wonderful and informational posts everyone has been adding to this discussion board and now I cannot get enough of it! I wanted to begin with your 70-cc Half Eagle post. I may hold the record for one of the poorest condition 70-cc Half Eagles out there in a PCGS holder.(graded Good-4)(only 70 to 85 estimated to survive???) As your story says, if these coins could only talk and tell their stories of where they have been, I am sure that mine has quite the story to tell! I really enjoyed your post! Cannot wait to read many more! I did not break the bank in purchasing this coin, I only wish I had thought of buying one many years before!

Best,
Tom DeFina

Hey Tom

Wow...your 1870-CC half eagle looks like it simply has good old fashioned wear-n- tear to me....at least you got one....that's more than about 3 billion people on planet earth have!
I think that your coin has even a few more stories to tell than mine!!!
I didn't know you had one of those. Regardless of grade it is what it is and you have a genuine rarity there my friend! :woohoo:

Tom,

Your '70-CC fiver is a handsome, historic piece that worked it's tail off
(along with a lot of surface metal)during the days of the wild west.

The coin appears to have no problems and any of us would be proud, and quite fortunate, to own it!

As worn as that coin is, the date jumps out at you like it is AU by itself. That's amazing the date was so unaffected by wear.

Both 1870-CC five's are awesome! Drummer yours does looked a wee off center, and Tom, I wish your coin could talk! Oh the places it may have been! Two beauties I say!
