One-Day Surge in Traffic on CCCCOA Web Site - Good Job! was created by Carsonite
To all active C4OA Web site participants:
As you can see from the Google Analytics chart below, traffic on this Web site jumped from 17 visitors on Tuesday (12-14-10) to 40 visitors on Wednesday (12-15-10).
We love to see this kind of activity and really appreciate everyone who takes the time to visit this Web site.
The site's visitor traffic has gradually decreased over the past six months. Prior to that, the site averaged 30 visits a day. This average has dropped to 21 - 22 visitors daily in recent months.
The activity that really lets us know this site is worth keeping live is that from visitors who post messages. The Coin of the Week posters are faithful contributors to this Web site, and a few other members pipe in from time to time, but we would really love to see other visitors at least leave replies to other members' postings.
If you are reading this message and have never (or only occasionally) posted one of your own, please consider doing so. Pick a category that interests you from the main category section and let us hear from you. If just 25 club members would actively engage in posting messages and-or leaving replies to others' messages, our visitor traffic would soar.
We've got the platform in place, let's use it.
My best to all of you,
Rusty

Rusty,
One of the reasons I've never joined a coin club before the C4OA is that my life is too darn complicated and busy to properly devote the time and committment. That's why the C4OA web site has been so perfect for me!
I can chat with fellow CC enthusiasts, read and learn from their postings or simply study CC related information on my own when I have the time.
That's key for me and one of the things that makes the C4OA discussion board such a valuable resource...it's always there "When I Have Time".

Rusty,
not to be negative because the site has some many positives but I'm new to the site and noticed some auction data appears dated. Keeping the site information fresh would also keep visitors coming back. DP

It's always nice to hear from a new CC enthusiast. Have you been a Carson City collector for long? Please tell us a bit about your coins.
I noticed your suggestion regarding the Auction Prices segment of the web site. The C4OA web site is sophisticated and has some amazing features...which facts are rather amazing considering the web site's administrator is a person who is primarily a numismatist, historian, prolific writer and runs one of the largest coin brokerages in the country...ie the one and only, Rusty Goe, with help from Maya too.
Frankly, I have no idea where he finds the time to keep the site going at all given his other commitments...but he somehow manages. Rusty also edits Curry's Chronicle and comments on almost every Coin of the Week article too. Where the heck does he get the time anyway??
Sandan, I checked and found that the Auction Price section gets very few hits and even fewer comments. If the C4OA had more active, volunteer members who had web site adminstration skills and were willing to contribute a few hours every week to the site, we could probably keep such sections a bit more updated. As it is, the site is kept up by one person who has a million other things to do every day.
The Heritage Auction web site makes constant mistakes and omissions on its sale price archives, yet the HA web site has an operational budget of over one million dollars per year, a huge and permanent ultra-tech staff and is probably the most sophisticated coin related web site in the world.
If you're looking for updated CC information, check out the Carson City Coin of the Week postings. Our CC coin articles contain very updated information on a wide variety of CC coin facts such as value, population, auction appearances, varieties, history and much more.
Thanks for your comments. I hope you check in again...
