"The Cliff House and Me" by Q. David Bowers.

The 1896 Cliff House had several ties to numismatics. It was built by Adolph Sutro, who constructed a tunnel below Virginia City, Nevada to drain from the silver and gold mines responsible for the creation of the Carson City Mint about 15 miles distant.

He later moved to San Francisco, where he was elected mayor. He was San Francisco's 24th mayor. This article has his picture and a couple images of tokens.

Q. David Bowers collects old musical instruments and asks for help from the readers to lacate some token picturing Encore "automatic banjo".
